Managing Windows

There should be a simple way to manage the position of windows in your operating system and there is. Linux has Compiz which has a great tool built into it called grid. This allows you to press a keyboard shortcut to place the windows where you want them. Ctrl+Alt+Num (from the numpad). E.g. Ctrl+Alt+5 fills the entire screen, Ctrl+Alt+4 fills the left side of the screen, and Ctrl+Alt+8 would fill the top half of the screen. This is great for tiling windows vertically, horizontally etc. It also takes advantage of the similar layout of the number pad and the screen. It's easy to know where you'll place the window with the shortcut key. I didn't have much trouble finding a comparable application for windows either. This one even allows you setup custom sizes.
